For Dubby

Today's "Saturday Sojourn" is not filled with
pictures of vacations or scenic landscape,
but is a trip back to my childhood home in real time.

Still, it's filled with memories, friendship, family, and love.

Peace.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. You are truly the best friend anyone could ever have, Jo. Thank you for this, for remembering Terry today, your father yesterday. Thank you.

    What is remembered, lives.

With love and so much admiration, thank you.

  3. All yesterday and today I am thinking of Dubby, his family and friends - thank you for posting these thoughts Jo...such words of comfort for such a day remembering. You set the stage here though, for anyone attending can look in the eyes of the visitors and know how deeply Terry touched their lives. <3
Dubby...you got Jo started here, and thank you for that too! <3 <3

  6. Hi Rick,

That sentiment, "to leave the world a bit better" is really huge, isn't it? It's so encouraging to me. We don't really have to do it all...just a little something to leave the world a bit better.

Like being a friend. What a great friend you are to Dubby. It was so good to see you with him today.

Great to meet Gayle today, as well. I'll see you soon,

    xoxo

  7. Thank you for the sweet words, Nancy.

Yes, I heard many stories of how many people Terry touched in his life. Wow.

I got to visit with your sister, Carol for a few minutes before the service. She is almost as sweet as you! ♥

I think you're right about the divinity of peace and love and respect and all.

    That means you're divine, too.

  9. Jo. Sweet Jo. Thank you. With all the activity I hadn't gone to your blog. Kind Vicki brought it to my attention. She knew you wouldn't. We all appreciate your warmth and love and thank you everyone who thought of us and made comments here. Hugs,

  10. Goodness. No thanks necesary, Dubby. You know me, usually I insist on simply saying "you're welcome" but not tonight.

This post is for you and your legion of friends who care so deeply for you. You would do the same and so much more for any of us. It truly is the LEAST that I could do.

The celebration of Terry's life was amazing. By listening to the speakers, I learned just how very much you and your brother have in common.

It was as if they were speaking about you...intelligent, funny, compassionate, outgoing, confident, deep thinking, harmonica players...BOTH of you! It must run deep in your blood, right down to your DNA.

Your sweet mother astounded me with her grace and composure. I will never forget our few minutes together.

You can be sure that Terry's spirit is beaming right now at the tour de force of love that showed up for him on Saturday. It was beautiful! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to attend.

    xoxo
